When we wake

Written Response: The
purpose of this assignment is once the students have finished the book When We Wake, they will write a literary
analysis about what they liked about the book, what they didn’t like, and what
their predictions are for what will happen next in the story. Students will be
expected to use text evidence including direct quotes and page numbers to
support their statements. As a teacher, I would be looking for feedback on the
book as to if I would have students read it again, and I would also be looking at the creativity in their predictions.

Podcast: The purpose of this project is for students to create an interview with the characters from the book. They are to choose one central issue within the book that can be argued from differing perspectives.

Digital Storytelling: The purpose of this project is for students to create a movie trailer that introduces the book to the audience. The trailer should display one or more characters, a depiction of the setting, and sets up the plot.
