Build a Book Page

DIRECTIONS FOR GETTING STARTED WITH YOUR PAGE:
The following guidelines will help you to set up your Digital Salon page. While you should be sure to include all of the suggested parts, you can choose to arrange the page according to your own design aesthetics. Some other options to personalize your design might include:
  • Use the "Block Quote" option to highlight a meaningful quote from the book.
  • Add a "Content Color Block" to organize the flow of your page.
  • Add a "Vertical Divider" to structure the layout of your page.
  • Feel free to include additional information, images, or any other resources you choose.

Book Title & Author

Add a "title" box to introduce the book and author and Your Name as Designer/Producer/Creator.

Part 1: Written Response (add a "title" box for each of the 4 projects)

Begin by including your purpose statement and selected Common Core standards in a "paragraph" box. Then, include your written response. A few options include 1) paste your writing into a "paragraph" box, or 2) upload your file in a "document" box. Finally, include your Author's Statement in a "paragraph box" below your project.

Part 2: Podcasting

Add a "paragraph box" to explain your purpose statement and selected standards. Then, there are a few simple steps to embedding your podcast. First, you need to upload your file online. There are many ways you might do this, but one suggestion is to use Soundcloud. Create a free account and upload your file. Then, you can choose to embed that file on this page by selecting "share" and "embed." Copy the code. Then, add an "embed code" box from the Weebly options. Paste the code when prompted to do so. The file should appear when you publish. Finally, add your Author's Statement in a "paragraph box."

Part 3: Digital Storytelling

Add a "paragraph box" to explain your purpose statement and selected standards. Then, there are a few options for embedding your video. First, you can try uploading it using the "flash" box if it is saved as an SWF file. Another option is to upload your video to a youtube account (perhaps create one with your wisc email just for educational purposes). Then, select a "youtube" box and paste the link for your video.  I suggest the third option-- set up a Vimeo account and upload your video there. Then, similar to with the podcast, find the option to "share" and "embed," then copy the code. Finally, paste the code into the "embed code" box from the Weebly options. The last step is to add your Author's Statement in a "paragraph" box.

Part 4: Infographic

Add a "paragraph" box to explain your purpose statement and selected standards. Then, consider adding your infographic as a picture using the "image" box, or if it is saved as a word doc consider using "file" box, or if it was created using an online site/app check to see if there is an embed code and follow the directions above for "embed code" options. Finally, add your Author's Statement in a "paragraph" box.
