Walk Two Moons -By Sharon Creech

A Digital Forum Created By: Sami Kleiber
Walk Two Moons is a book that is told from the perspective of a 13 year old girl named Sal. She is traveling with her grandparents from her new home in Ohio to Idaho. Their trip is the same trip her mother took only one year prior when she left Sal and Sal's father. While Sal is on this road trip, she tells a story about her friend Phoebe Winterbottom. Phoebe's story brings to light another story, Sal's story.

Prompt: Script and create a podcast that summarizes an event in Walk Two Moons from a different character's perspective.
Purpose: The purpose of this activity is to get students familiar with taking a new perspective of a secondary character in the book. It is also meant to demonstrate for students all of the qualities of production in media that go into making a podcast.

Part 3: Digital Story

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.5.6
Describe how a narrator's or speaker's point of view influences how events are described.

Purpose: The purpose of this activity is to give students a chance to recreate the book through a digital story. They will have the opportunity to be creative in their movie making and design a unique way to summarize what they read in a meaningful way.

Part 4: Infographic

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.5.3
Compare and contrast two or more characters, settings, or events in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text (e.g., how characters interact).
