srsly Hamlet

Digital Storytelling
I wanted to make this stop motion film seem like a video game, but I ran into some complications along the way. Due to unintended watermarks and difficulty finding appropriate music and sound effects, this film turned out a lot less "digital" than I hoped. I did incorporate some music that is reminiscent of 8-bit tracks, but not to the caliber that I wanted. I tried to set up the name tags and round labels to resemble a fighting video game. The orange post-its blinked across the screen just like I remember video games doing. I also wanted to incorporate the context of the mentor text itself, which is an very modern adaptation of Hamlet. This version has turned the famous play into texts and facebook posts, incorporating emojis and abbreviations for almost every word. In the video, I tried to make the characters dialogue line up with that, mostly by using abbreviated words. I feel like this adds a sense of humor as well as familiarity because we are used to seeing--or using--these conventions.
