Part 1: Written Response
Purpose: The purpose of this writing task is for students to explore the setting of the text to determine if the story's community was designed to be a utopia. Students will have to apply their knowledge of how society currently functions in comparison with that of the text's. Students will argue their position with examples from the novel to support their claims.

Prompt: The literary term utopia is a commonly used idea is fiction writing. A utopia is a supposed to represent a perfect society where the negative realities of the real world do not exist. In 2-3 paragraphs explain whether you think the setting of Boy Meets Boy is supposed to be projection of a Utopian society. Use examples from the text to support your thinking.

Purpose: The purpose of this podcast is for students to identify and analyze a theme. Students will have to explore the theme through a real life scenario. Students will have to apply their prior knowledge of how the theme functions in society today.

The purpose of this assignment is for students to summarize a long text in a concise way. Students will need to pick out the most important information, without giving away the ending.

Purpose: the purpose of this infographic is to give students a chance to look research into a real world issue. Students will have to find new information about a new topic and organize this information in a cohesive, constructive manner.
